Amtrak One-Day Trip to Portland for PK80

The Seattle Carolina Club is working with Amtrak to create a group trip for members and their families to Portland Friday, Nov. 24, for UNC’s basketball game against either Arkansas or Oklahoma. The game is part of the Phil Knight Invitational Tournament, which features many of the nation’s top teams and celebrates the Nike founder’s 80th birthday.

Carolina tips off the tournament with an 11:30 a.m. contest against Portland on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 23). We will play at either 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, during Session 6 of the tournament. The final games of the competition will be played Sunday, Nov. 26.

Trip details for Friday, Nov. 24: The Amtrak Cascades train will leave Seattle’s King Street station, 303 S. Jackson St., at 7:25 a.m., arriving in Portland at 11:05 a.m. Local transit options get attendees to Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the Friday games. The group will leave Portland on the 6:50 p.m. train, returning to Seattle at 10:30 p.m. Check in each way is one hour before departure.

Cost of the round-trip Amtrak coach ticket is $72 per person. Additional discounts are available for seniors age 62+ and children age 2-12. The price does not include game tickets or local transportation in Portland.

To make this group trip happen, we need at least 15 participants.
